Happy Tuesday Lovelies:

Valentine’s Day is next week and most of you have already plans in place for the day (or evening). However, it’s always a bonus when it falls on the weekend.  Since we are in such luck this year, it makes for a great opportunity to host a Valentine’s Day Jane Austen-themed tea party.

Known for her classic novels, Jane Austen provides a great inspiration for a Saturday afternoon tea party on Valentine’s Day weekend.  Although the fellas might initially scoff at the idea of wearing early 19th century finery, you can incorporate some activities that they may enjoy like a billiards (pool) table, cards and darts.  A decor consisting of vintage lace, delicate china and blooming florals will add to the theme of your party, and accent your table consisting of scones, finger sandwiches, assorted cookies, teacakes and punch.

Of course, given the nature of the cold-weather climate at this time, you may not be able to have a traditional tea party in every sense.  So, you can definitely add your own modern twist.  Or, host a post-Valentine’s Day Sunday brunch instead.  A fun follow-up to Saturday’s main event would be appreciated, and may even lead to the start of a yearly tradition.

Best,
