I wanted to take this opportunity to spotlight Mojuba a great company in the wedding accessories industry. Mojuba is owned by my friend and fellow wedding professional extraordinaire Jackie James. Jackie and I met last year in the Dominican Republic at the Inspire Smart Success Experience and I fell in love with her passion for preparing couples for those unexpected moments that could happen on their special day! Jackie took her expertise from her many years of event planning and parlayed it into a successful company. Mojuba is a South-African word that means ‘a bag of magic that brings joy and happiness.’ Her emergency kit bags not only bring joy and happiness, but also peace of mind.
After working with brides and grooms for so many years, Jackie understood that it’s the little details that are easily forgotten on such an exciting, yet hectic day. Therefore, she created Mojuba bags, which would contain every product that a couple may need for their wedding day, but may not necessarily remember to have. Whether it’s breath freshener, Band-Aids, sewing kits or antacids, these fashionable yet functional emergency kits are a portable, one-stop shop that any maid of honor or best man will find useful in their duties of assisting the bride and groom.
Even if you are not in the wedding party, these bags make great shower gifts, and your friends will be grateful that you thought of such a unique and helpful gift.

Whew, say that three times really quickly. LOL! Can you tell that I’m excited? Well, while we are yet doing all we can to stay cool as thermometers rise, I am already looking forward to pulling out my leather, fur (or faux fur if you prefer), boots, coats and all my other wonderful cold weather fashions.
I am also looking forward to rocking some of the color trends for the season as they include some of my favorites. Not sure of what they are? Here’s the scoop: twice each year, Pantone Color Institute publishes their color trends for the upcoming season. For Fall/Winter 2013 some of their colors include Turbulence, Carafe, Acai and my personal favorite, Vivacious!
However, you don’t have to wait until the leaves start to fall to rock some of these colors for late summer. Whether it’s a gray pair of shorts, a fuchsia sundress or a pretty purple peep-toe pump, (there I go again), you can look like the ‘fashion-savvy-nista’ that you are and wear pre-season inspired frocks like famous ‘It Girls’ so often do.
In these hazy days, lazy days of summer, you can help cool things down by ushering the next season a little early!
Braided wedding hairstyles have been really big for bohemian brides this past year. But this trend is not just for the hippie chicks! Braided details can add visual interest and beauty to any style of wedding.
Aside from the obvious choice of using braids in wedding updos, it’s a great texture to incorporate into elements like jewelry, bridesmaids’ dresses, or in ribbons on favor boxes and bouquets. I love engagement and wedding rings with braided bands because to me, it’s symbolic of the bride and groom uniting to bring their families and their pasts into one future.
I’m also a fan of this trend because it’s versatile for any type of bride. A rustic bride can use braided straw around her centerpieces and have a small braid in her messy bun hairstyle, while a glam bride can have a braided crystal sash on her dress and braided details on her metallic heels. Since it’s not really a “theme”, adding hints of braids add small, interesting details without overpowering the overall look of the wedding.
Here are some of my fave ideas on how to use this trend… Which is your fave?
On July 3rd, I had the awesome pleasure of being apart of Delamarva Life tv show which airs on the local WBOC-TV station.
On the show I shared quick hassle-free tips for a delish shrimp salad sandwich, refreshing Red, White and You wine sprtizer and patriotic table setting for 8 at the whopping price of $30!! Who says entertaining has to be hard and expensive?!
Segment 1: shrimp salad sandwich and wine spritzer
Segment 2: table setting
I hoped you enjoyed the segment and look for more entertaining tips coming soon to a tv near you!
As we spend our day with family and friends, consuming Americas favorite delicacies, hotdogs and apple pie take time to honor our independence, celebrate our liberty and show love in everything you do!
The Fourth of July holiday usually raises thoughts of big barbecues with family and friends, community picnics and local firework displays. Rarely, if ever, does it spark ideas of a romantic evening for two. However, the holiday offers a great opportunity to take advantage of having some downtime from the daily grind, the wonderful summer climate and a reason to have dinner under the stars.
Of course it all starts with the atmosphere. Whether it’s a rooftop escape or your backyard, the right lighting can set the mood. Chinese lanterns, candles, or even soft white Christmas lights can add a lovely backdrop. So as to not forget to show your patriotism, the tablescape can be used to reflect the day’s theme colors with red roses for the centerpiece, blue melamine dinnerware and luxe white linen tablecloth and napkins.
For the meal, instead of burgers and dogs, serve up a grilled menu that is sure to please your sweetie. Flank steak with chimichurri sauce, grilled oysters or barbecued chicken breast with pepper peach relish are just a few ideas that come to mind. And, don’t forget the dessert. Cap off your meal with a mouth-watering chocolate soufflé, cheesecake with seasonal fruit, or raspberry-filled S’mores while you watch the fireworks display on a television screen set up outside.
Nevertheless, with a night like this, you are sure to set off your own fireworks display. So, for once, let tradition take a backseat for your celebration of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!
